VOLEO TAKES NASDAQ

And by “take,” we mean visit. 😉 And what a visit it was!

Watching the Nasdaq market open is one of those life moments you know is not likely to repeat, but that you’ll always remember. For those of us enamored with the potential of the markets, Nasdaq represents exciting opportunity – especially with it being headquartered in a financial capital of the world.

Last Friday Nasdaq graciously hosted us, a couple Voleo college ambassadors and our winning investment club team from the Voleo Nasdaq simulated equity trading competition. We met at 8:30am sharp at reception of the Times Square Marketsite. Walking through the vibrant Times Square was thrilling that morning; it was a mild winter day and the lights seemed extra bright. The Nasdaq tower seems bigger in person, towering above the busy intersection of Broadway and 42nd.

After a tour through the studio (and a chance to sit in those important seats!) , we were taken into the ground floor room where the opening bell is rung and had the chance to watch as the market opened for trading. The Chinese Consulate General in New York was there to ring the bell, in celebration of Chinese New Year.

When the bell went off, red confetti showered the room and the excitement was palpable; it’s one of those inspiring moments that makes you want to really seize the day. Which we absolutely did, with a delicious brunch just a few blocks away. 😛

A very big thank you to Nasdaq for their hospitality, and for giving us the opportunity of a lifetime! It’s a morning not soon forgotten.

The markets can be exciting, and don’t forget, it’s never too late to start investing! We look forward to hosting another simulated equity trading competition, but until then, create an investment club of your own!
